Last week's Mobile World Congress has given those in the mobile industry an overload of news on development, partnerships and industry rumour. Perhaps one of the most talked about announcements was that of Nokia and Microsoft coming together in a strategic partnership. With Apple and Google stealing an increasing amount of the Smartphone market share, the Nokia-Microsoft partnership might just provide them with the winning formula to combat the Android OS.
The collaboration has met with mixed reviews across the industry; some describe the partnership as a gamble while others are praising Nokia's bold move to win back Smartphone users. The BBC took to the streets of Mobile World Congress to get initial reactions on this collaboration from some of the industries big players and they managed to hunt out Proxama’s Chief Exec Neil Garner in the process:
Whatever the critics say, Nokia and Microsoft’s collaboration is certainly going to be interesting and should create a stir in both the Apple and Google base camps. It’s given the mobile world an even bigger surge of energy and excitement; we’re sure to see incredible innovation in the near future as competition hots up in the bid for Smartphone leadership.
